Pediatric Dentistry of Palo Alto is committed to ensuring that this website is usable by as wide an audience as possible, including people who use assistive technologies. We are working to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as a target.
What we have implemented
- Semantic HTML structure with descriptive page titles and headings;
- Skip-to-content link at the top of every page;
- Color contrast intended to meet WCAG AA for body text;
- Visible keyboard focus indicators on interactive elements;
- Alternative text for non-decorative images;
- Resizable text without breaking the layout;
- Decorative animations that respect the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem preference; - Form fields with associated labels and clear error messaging;
- Accessible names for icon buttons and social links.
Where we still have work to do
Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time project. We are continuously improving the site and may not yet meet WCAG 2.2 AA in every detail. Areas we are actively reviewing include:
- Third-party embeds (such as the appointment scheduler and map) that we do not control directly;
- Image alt text for legacy images migrated from prior versions of the website;
- Continued testing with screen readers across multiple platforms;
- Captions and transcripts for any video content we may add.
Tell us if something is not working
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this website, or if you have a suggestion for how we can do better, please contact us. Tell us where you encountered the issue and the assistive technology you were using, if any. We will do our best to address it promptly.
